ACCEPTANCE THROUGH VIRTUAL AUDITION SUBMISSION ONLY
Virtual audition submissions to be submitted via the audition form no later than Monday, April 28, 2025.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
- Please submit a virtual vocal audition of a 32-measure cut of a song in the style of the show that shows your vocal range.
- The creative team is accepting virtual submissions only.

CALLBACKS
Callbacks will be by invitation only and will take place in late April / early May.
LOCATION
Call backs will be held at the Algonquin Arts Theatre, 60 Abe Voorhees, Manasquan, NJ.
REHEARSAL INFO
Rehearsals will be at Algonquin Arts Theatre or in a nearby location. Rehearsals to begin in late June of 2025. Exact rehearsal schedule will be set once the availability of all actors is learned but will take place during weekday evenings and weekends (depending on role and when called).
BEFORE YOU AUDITION, be advised that all actors must be available for rehearsals that are to be scheduled according to the actor's role. It is mandatory for actors to be available for all scheduled evening TECH rehearsals (August 4-8) and performances (August 9-16). Conflicts will not be accepted after the cast has been announced.

SYNOPSIS
RENT is back in an all-new production, bringing its powerful story of love, friendship, and resilience. With unforgettable songs like "Seasons of Love" and a message that resonates as strongly today as ever, this Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is the must-see event of the summer.
ROLES AVAILABLE
Seeking actors of all backgrounds, race and gender. Must be 18 years of age or older to audition. Actors do not have to be the actual age of the character. The ages are there to help you play to the age of the character.
CHARACTERS
ROGER DAVIS: 20-25. A struggling musician and former drug addict, he is reminiscent of Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain. Battles with being HIV-positive and the death of his ex-girlfriend. Pop/rock tenor.
MARK COHEN: 20-30. Underfunded and underground filmmaker and video artist. He has turned his back on his affluent upbringing and is deep in his own soul-searching. The narrator of the show. Pop tenor.
TOM COLLINS: 25-35. Philosopher, teacher, anarchist, AIDS activist. A computer genius and liberal professor, he is a nurturer with a smooth and relaxed disposition. Gospel baritone.
ANGEL DUMOTT SCHUNARD: 20-30. An eccentric street drummer and a drag queen with an incredible gift of dance and magnetic personality. Warm, loveable, and nurturing. High pop tenor with falsetto.
BENJAMIN COFFIN III: 25-35. Former roommates with Mark, Roger, and Collins, he is now the landlord of the building. Traded in his personal morals for power and wealth. Pop tenor.
MIMI MARQUEZ: 18-21. Dancer at the Cat Scratch Club and Roger and Mark's neighbor. Savvy and independent, but with dark secrets. Pop/rock belt.
MAUREEN JOHNSON: 20-25. A downtown performance artist. Funny and wild, she is always the life of the party (as long as she is center of everyone's attention). Pop/rock belt.
JOANNE JEFFERSON: 25-35. A public interest lawyer with wry humor and sardonic wit. Headstrong, smart, and purposeful in all her decisions. Pop/rock belt.
